Mackenzie takes home Dare to Dance Crown

Hip-hop, contemporary, Bollywood and classical were among the dance styles seen as 12 teams from across the TDSB competed in the second annual TDSB Dare to Dance Final Challenge at the Toronto Centre for the Arts on December 8.

Students had to choreograph a dance to express a social justice issue and the finalist teams were selected at semi-final competitions in November. In the end, eMotion, from William Lyon Mackenzie, impressed the crowd and judges with their high energy, and received the Overall Achievement Award for Outstanding Choreography, Thematic Expression and Performance. Congratulations!

Technology at Mackenzie

One of the important initiatives at Mackenzie this year is the implementation of technology in our teaching and learning practices. We know that technology and social media are all about learning, engagement and social networking. Our students are of the “i” generation: iPhone, iPod, iPad, Wii, iTunes etc.. To our students, www stands for “whatever, whenever, wherever”.

Technology has moved our world into areas of research and progress that were unimaginable only a decade ago. With this futuristic capability, comes great responsibility. We must use technology in positive ways that will enrich our society and lives. It is our hope that Mackenzie students and staff will have a fantastic 2011-12 school year, filled with great social and academic growth. The potential at Mackenzie is great!
